Anzac Weekend 2015

This year was the 100 year anniversary of the ANZAC forces landing at Gallipoli. The kids and teachers at MPPS put a lot of time and effort into a moving and thoughtful ceremony on Friday 24/4/15. Each child had made a poppy which they laid on the stage before they sat down. Charlie and her friend, Anastasia read their poem they had written.

ANZAC DAY POEM

The sun raised from the ground
And 1000 men marched on
Crawling around the trenches,
Trying to feel courage grow in their hearts.
Fighting for their lives.
Battling for their countries.
Many died, many survived.
Looking for the answer to make the battle end.
100 years later we still remember them.

At the end of school we packed up with ten other families and headed down to Anglesea to the Coastal Forest Lodge, (cabin type accommodation with a rope park, bush walks, fire pit, basketball court etc.) The weather was average... a bit cold and wet... but the 25 kids ranging from 3-12 didn't care. We roasted marshmallows, went on a 7km walk along the cliff tops, pony riding.

Point Lonsdale Surf Competition (Grom's Off the wall)

We've had a terrific time this summer in the caravan in Point Lonsdale. Lots of snorkelling, surfing and rock pooling as well as bike riding and general loafing about.

The Point Lonsdale Boardriders put on a kids surf competition "Groms off the Wall" and Alex and Charlie were keen to enter. It was a lovely event set up on the front beach at Point Lonsdale. All the entrants had to wear a coloured rash vest (like in the Pro comps) and the older kids did the commentary which was hilarious: 'and here's Charlie Ward dropping in on a big one!'

Kymbo had set up a Teepee by the beach for the kids to do craft. Charlie made a tickling wand and Sam a gumnut person. They were delighted with their creations!
